Máy này lý tưởng để xác định độ bền mài mòn của các vật liệu như giấy, lớp lót, vớ và các loại vật liệu giày tương tự, đặc biệt là những vật liệu làm từ vải. Máy có thể kiểm tra lên đến bốn mẫu cùng lúc. Các mẫu được chà xát lên vật liệu mài mòn theo tất cả các hướng trong một mẫu hình phức tạp, lặp đi lặp lại (hình Lissajous), trong khi đó, giá đỡ quay đồng thời, đảm bảo đánh giá hiệu quả và chính xác độ bền của vật liệu dưới tác động của mài mòn.
