Máy thử va đập BGD 301 Dupont được thiết kế để kiểm tra độ bền va đập của vật liệu phủ (sau khi phủ). Máy được trang bị 5 đầu đo có đường kính khác nhau và khuôn liên quan, 3 trọng lượng khác nhau. Để thực hiện thử nghiệm va đập đối với vật liệu sơn và phủ là sử dụng đầu đo có nhiều góc tròn khác nhau để chạm vào mẫu vật lúc đầu, sau đó thả một vật nặng đã chọn từ độ cao nhất định xuống đầu đo để tác động vào mẫu vật. Thực hiện theo cùng một cách để kiểm tra thêm ba mẫu vật nữa, sau đó đặt và để yên trong một giờ, sau đó quan sát xem lớp phủ có bị hư hỏng (nứt hoặc biến dạng) không.
